I aim to
work in a way that respects the unique individuality of you; that
supports and encourages your own healing and developmental
processes. I value the art of assessment, taking time to work out
what has brought you here and making choices together about how to
go forward, which might include a therapy with me or might not. A
therapy might be something short and focussed or might be
wide-ranging long term and in depth. It might be individual, couple
or group. However you proceed, it will take courage, commitment and
trust from both you and me. I have enormous respect for the process
of therapy which is essentially talking, listening, feeling and
being, in as creative a way as possible, in a confidential
relationship.
I have been
engaged in mental health services for nearly 25 years. I have
experience of working with a very wide variety of issues, with
people from very different backgrounds and in all sorts of
circumstances. I have worked with charities, with mothers and
families in hospital, with adolescents in boarding school, with an
inner city Sure Start team, with University students and in the NHS
with people suffering complex and enduring difficulties. I have been
involved in training, supervising, the creation of new services and
mentoring programmes. I have maintained an ongoing private practice
of therapy and supervision for over 10 years.
My
professional training includes :

Centred Counselling, Certificate, Ripon & York St John’s

If you are
interested to see whether we might be able to work together then I
offer a free conversation on the telephone. This provides the
opportunity to ask questions and to see whether a full consultation
would be helpful.
