PSYCHODYNAMIC COUNSELLING: One of two major
therapies used in UK health services, recommended for many problems,
including anxiety and depression, developmental issues, relationship
difficulties. Can be helpful for talking through emotional stress in
many other situations. Sessions last 50 minutes, once a week, can be
short or long term, for a fixed period or open-ended.
PSYCHOANALYTIC PSYCHOTHERAPY: Based on a wide range of psychoanalytic
theories concerned with early life experience and relationships and/or
trauma and their impact on current life situations. Offers an
opportunity to explore concerns or difficulties in depth in order to
arrive at lasting change. Especially useful in dealing with complex
issues. Sessions can be once a week or more frequent.
PSYCHOANALYSIS: Allows an exploration of a range of difficulties,
distress or conflict, and personal strengths and resources, to arrive at
greater insight, clearer choices, improved relationships. Can lead to
resolution of long term problems and a greater sense of well-being.

requires three years of study and supervised clinical work.
