SUE
HARRISON
I am a psychodynamic
counsellor living in France.
My interest in counselling
began in 1987 when I joined Parentline. Following the initial training,
I worked as a volunteer telephone counsellor listening to and helping
parents who felt stressed and unhappy.
After completing an Adult
Education course in Basis Counselling Skills, I decided to train in
psychodynamic counselling at Chichester Counselling Services. This
course is BACP accredited, requiring 3 years intensive study. I gained
my diploma in 1996 and continued working on a voluntary basis for CCS
until I moved to France in 2001. During that time I counselled clients
from all sorts of backgrounds, through a wide variety of problems and
difficulties. Since moving to France, I have maintained my counselling
skills by returning to England regularly to participate in Continuing
Professional Development.
From my own experience of
living in France, I can appreciate that, though this may be the
realisation of a dream, it is not always easy. Difficulties with
speaking French and coping with a different way of doing things, while
separated from family and friends, can make you feel very lonely,
isolated and unhappy. Counselling could help.
Contact me at the email
address below to arrange an initial telephone consultation to discuss
the possibility of working together in a safe and confidential
environment. We would have counselling sessions by phone and could work
together to help you in whatever area would be appropriate.
In all my work I abide by
the ethical framework for good practice as set out by the B.A.C.P.
I currently do not charge for my work.
