I am trained
and qualified as an integrative counsellor with Emèt Analyse, a French
counselling and psychotherapy institute (www.emetanalyse.com) based in
Uzès. I abide by this institute’s code of ethics, which in turn abides
by the principals of SNPPsy (Syndicat National des Praticiens en
Psychothérapie) and of l’AFFOP (Association Fédérative Français des
Organismes de Psychothérapie). |

My
training, which included a later course on psychopathology, plus my own
personal reading, has given me a grounding in the analytical, object
relations, development and attachment theories of Freud, Lacan, Klein,
Bion, Winnicot, Bowlby.
PRACTICE:
I draw to some extent on Roger’s Person Centred approach, but more
frequently on a Psychodynamic one, focusing on the therapeutic
relationship that may emerge during counselling. However, the presenting
needs and personal inner ‘structure’ of a client will mean a flexibility
in my work, leading at times to a more ‘directive’ approach, such as is
offered by Cognitive Behaviour Therapy; along with a respect of the
individual’s family/social/relational network, such as the Systems
Theory allows room for.
I worked with the French population in the Haute Loire for 5 years with
ASAPT, l’Association de l’aide Psychologique et Thérapeutique. ASAPT’s
counsellors are supervised by Emèt Analyse, and we abide by the ethic of
confidentiality, except in situations where a client’s life may be in
danger. Having recently moved to Rouen, I am now a counsellor (still
with ASAPT) for both French and English speakers.
FEES:
I offer an initial free telephone consultation, during which time a
potential client may ask for information on my practice etc. ASAPT asks
for a one off membership fee of 15 euros (a symbolic sum to help with
administrative costs); the fee is 30 euros for an individual
consultation, and 35 for couples. A session lasts for 45/50 minutes.
PREVIOUS TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
Prior to moving to France (20 years ago) I worked for 6 years in
Reading as a rehabilitation worker with the visually handicapped. I have
since lived with my husband and children in Paris, Lyon and Valence
where I respectively trained and worked as a breast feeding counsellor;
the last 8 years were spent in the Haute Loire teaching English in
Primary schools.
WHERE TO FIND ME:
I now live and work 5 minutes from the centre of Rouen rive droite -
easy metro and bus access and good parking facilities!
