WHY COUNSELLING?
- Struggling with one or more
of the following may lead some into counselling :
depression, anxiety, conflict, addiction,
trauma, loss ….
- For others, the reason may
seem less clear, linked to a general sense of unease
with oneself and in one’s relationships.
However, whatever the motive,
undertaking counselling is finally a very personal
decision.
WHAT SORT OF COUNSELLING?
In a quiet and comfortable setting, I seek to enable a
person to express their difficulty and/or pain.
Depending on their needs and personality, the NUMBER and
FREQUENCE of sessions will vary. For some, a few
sessions may relieve a difficulty, or help to alleviate
suffering. For others, a longer counselling process is
appropriate, in which my APPROACH will integrate the
following aspects :
- Clarifying the presenting
issues and needs
- Understanding these within
the global context of a person’s life - past and
present,
alongside their specific family/couple system and
cultural context
- Reflecting analytically on
the dynamics of the person’s inner and external
relationships, which may have become a source of
internal and external conflict and unease
- Encouraging a person’s
capacity to integrate adjustment and growth;
respecting also
that same person’s paradoxes, limits and areas of
vulnerability.
WHICH COUNSELLOR?
Counselling and psychotherapy is, over and above any
technique, based on a relationship of confidence and
collaboration. It is therefore important that one should
feel secure with the competence, attentiveness and
respect of the practitioner.
- Trained and qualified in
Clinical Psychopathology, I seek to nuance my
diagnosis and intervention according to a person’s
symptoms and personality, whilst respecting that a
person can never be reduced or captured by a
theoretical definition
- I abide by the ‘Charte de
Qualité’ of www.analyse-tridimensionnelle.com, with
whom I am trained and qualified as a counsellor, and
by the ‘Déontologie’ of www.psy-en-mouvement.com ,
the federation of which I am a qualified member
- I seek to maintain a coherent
and professional practice through my ongoing
theoretical training, personal didactic analytical
therapy and supervision
