"Offering a supportive space to develop creativity" |
|
Sometimes it's helpful to look at an issue or problem in a different
way. Being supported in an artistic activity can help with
expression, development of new skills and can provide a new social
link to people with common interests. Drawing is a way to express
oneself non-verbally, often as a symbolic representation of the mind
and body working together, and as a valuable means to connect or
re-connect with the self.
I have been a fully qualified teacher of art and design since 1993,
and have taught in the UK, France, Switzerland and the USA. I am a
firm believer in the power of artistic expression to develop motor
control, confidence, self esteem and decision making skills and its
subsequent ability to impact on all other areas of personal
development and learning.
I am a former student of the Art Student's League of New York, where
I first developed my interest in life and figurative drawing.
Qualified to Masters level*, in the field of social, emotional and
behavioural development and education, I have a particular
specialism in working with individuals on assisted self-portraits.
My work emphasises self-expression and self-development where
participants work in a supportive environment. Services include
school-based workshops and individual and group tuition to children,
adolescents and adults in French and English. I am currently
studying with the Hospital of Toulouse on the Psychotherapy and
Mediated Therapy University Diploma course specialising in Art
therapy.
