ROSS “Person Centred Approach” 14500 VIRE (Calvados)
Born in the Midlands, I have been living in France now for nearly 25 years with my wife who is French. We are happily married and parents to two fine daughters. This doesn't mean that I don't have my own share of problems but I have learnt over the years how to cope better with them and certainly how to avoid too many new ones! After all these years in France and thanks to my family, I am now fluent in French and most of my clients in psychotherapy are French but I enjoy my work with English clients immensely as it gives me the chance to express myself in my mother tongue. My training as a psychologist was done at the University of Caen a few years after moving here and was a major change of direction for me and one which I have never regretted. After becoming a fully qualified psychologist, having work experience in the psychiatry setting, I took a job in our local hospital where I am still working. It is thanks to this demanding and satisfying work that I decided to uptake additional training as a psychotherapist. It was a natural choice for me to choose “the person centred approach” which is better known in G.B. than in France although I did my training in Paris and in Dijon with the “Group d'Etude Carl Rogers” ( ge.carlrogers@wanadoo.fr ) and Helga Henneman.
As well as my hospital work, I now have a private
practice in the Vire town centre. I don't offer a free assessment
appointment as such but it does happen that I give free advice and
orientation when needed, using my experience of the French system. It is
my experience that people, given the right therapeutic conditions, are
capable of moving forward and I just try to facilitate this natural
movement. So give me a ring and pose your questions. We can fix a first
