Located near downtown Lorient (40 minutes west of Vannes, 40 minutes
east of Quimper, by car), near "les halles de Merville", I work with
anxiety and depression, as well as adjustment and relationship issues. I
have a specialization in eating disorders, having worked with the
Renfrew Center in the United States for several years. I have worked
with children, adolescents, and adults.
Originally from New York, I have a bachelor's degree from Columbia
University and a master's in social work from the University of
Maryland. In the States, I had additional training with the
Baltimore-Washington Institute for Psychoanalysis.
Psychodynamic therapy is derived from psychoanalysis, but is generally
shorter-term, more flexible, and doesn't require lying on a couch. The
focus of treatment is less on giving specific answers or solutions to
difficulties, and more on your inner world and experience, and how this
colours your life. We look for patterns - ways of thinking and behaving
- that appear to recur and affect how you understand yourself in
day-to-day living. The goal is for change to occur from the inside out,
rather than from a formula or prescription.
My fees are based on a sliding scale. I prefer to have a first session
so that we may collaboratively decide on a course of treatment and how
to make it work for you financially. Generally sessions are once a week,
though occasionally more often.
